fairs 33.BI-MU and

fairs 33.BI-MU and Xylexpo 2022 The topics of digitization and sustainability will characterize the next edition of BI-MU and Xylexpo, the events organized by UCIMU-SISTEMI PER PRODURRE, the association of Italian manufacturers of machine tools, robots and automation, and by Acimall, the association of woodworking machinery manufacturers, to be held from 12 to 15 October 2022 in the fieramilano-Rho expo center. According to the trend of the pandemic and considering the highly favorable economic context, as shown by all key macroeconomic indexes, it is reasonable to expect that Xylexpo and 33.BI- MU will mark the complete “return to normal“, after the inevitable and necessary measures that have led to the cancellation of many events with a heavy impact on the exhibition calendar. A “premium” event BI-MU and Xylexpo, two distinct but complementary events merged into a single large container where operators from all over the world will find technologies, equipment, services and ideas to produce in an increasingly sustainable and efficient way, according to the principles of “Industry 4.0“. The stars of the events will be the most advanced technologies that, without neglecting all the related sectors, will show the evolution of production systems, their progressive integration, the constant involvement of different and complementary materials, including light alloys, composites, aluminum. Four days that will attract technicians, entrepreneurs, opinion leaders and operators from all over the world to Milan, especially from those countries where the demand for “4.0“ solutions is higher, solutions that are automatic, flexible, effective, and at the same time, empower an effective management of energy and resources thanks to increasingly “friendly“ digital systems. From this edition, the exhibition enters a new digital dimension that, through a dedicated platform, will further extend its geographical and time boundaries. Many events, seminars and collateral initiatives will be deployed by the two organizers, offering opportunities for in-depth analysis and discussion on the most current topics of industrial production. Alongside the shared paths between 33.BI- MU and Xylexpo, there will be specific initiatives in the programs of each fair. Xylexpo is renewing the appointment with “Xia-Xylexpo Innovation Awards“, that in 2022 will reward the commitment to “sustainable business“ (“Green Award“) and the development of digital solutions and structures (“Digital Award“). A specific award will go to the best technologies for the production of furniture with a special design content (“Design Award“). Xylexpo will also dedicate three exhibition days to as many topics of woodworking, through events and technological routes that will put specific segments of the production process under the spotlight. On Wednesday, October 12, the topic will be panel processing, Thursday 13 will be dedicated to surface finishing, Friday 14 to processes from sawmill to semi-finished material production. www.xylexpo.com imm cologne 2022 The dynamic start to the new year returns As an international business hub that holds a key position for the European trade and the German market, imm cologne (17 - 23 January 2022) is once again setting the wheels in motion! “After two years apart, it’s finally time for faceto-face encounters to return. imm cologne 2022 will be the first Interior Business Event at which companies will present major trends and innovations to an international audience following the hiatus caused by the pandemic,” says Matthias Pollmann, Vice President Trade Fair Management. The latest figures confirm the importance of the industry trade fair for the market. In the European context, Germany remains the market with the strongest sales for furniture producers, despite the events of the past 15 months. “By providing access to the important German furniture market and contacts with international buyers, imm cologne offers great business potential for furniture manufacturers from inside and outside Germany,” explains Jan Kurth, Managing Director of the Association of the German Furniture Industry (VDM). The relevance of the location is also growing beyond Europe’s borders - in all directions, in fact. That is why it is particularly worthwhile for companies to showcase themselves to the market, especially at this time. For the trade, a visit to the fair is also worthwhile because it is the only way for both target groups to generate new business on a sound footing. “The specialised trade still considers the inperson trade fair format to be of the utmost relevance. The industry urgently needs a little business normality. Experiencing the products, trend scouting as well as networking and ordering on-site at the event are essential for business and form the basis of a sustainable customer experience in the specialised trade,” says Christian Haeser, Managing Director of the Federal Association of the German Furniture, Kitchen and Furnishing Trade (BVDM). “The restart of imm cologne - augmented by innovative, digital formats - sends the right signal!” www.imm-cologne.com 32 No. 4 • October 2021

Technical presentations from practice and the accompanying exhibition offer a wealth of knowledge on current market trends. At the industry conference for timber construction, there are also plenty of opportunities to make contact and exchange ideas and information with others. Shown live at the WEINMANN Treff: WALLTEQ M-120 multifunction bridge: With low procurement costs, this machine is the perfect entry-level solution for small and medium-sized carpentry businesses and works highly efficiently even with small quantities. This multifunction bridge is equipped with holders for stapling and nailing devices and a trimming unit to complete the automatic fastening and processing of the sheathing. WALLTEQ M-380 multifunction bridge: Can be configured individually: the device carrier beams are configurable from both sides and have a maximum of 4 axes, offering space for up to 16 units. This enables a wide bandwidth of different processing activities. WALLTEQ M-300 insuFill multifunction bridge: NEW: Fully automatic deposit of panels with a robot A flexible, autonomous production cell with an integrated robot will be presented at the WEINMANN Treff. This cell offers not only efficient production and an attractive, ergonomic workstation, but also maximum availability and reliability. The panels are held in reserve in various dimensions in a stack of unprocessed material. The robot removes the panels fully automatically, aligns them, deposits them with a high level of precision and fixes them in place. The entire operation, from picking up the panels, through alignment up to deposit, takes just 30 seconds. The WALLTEQ M-120 multifunction bridge takes over the attachment and processing of the panels. Equipped with a fastenerSwitch quickchange system, the bridge has additional attachment devices that the WALLTEQ M-120 inserts automatically. The robot and the multifunction bridge work in parallel. All-rounders for timber construction: investment in the future Sawing, trimming, drilling, stapling, nailing, screwing, insulating - and that‘s not all. The multifunction bridges are real all-rounders and can be expanded on an individual basis. Depending on the performance and product range required, different versions are available to suit the respective requirements. A wide variety of elements and materials are processed fully automatically with one machine. The optimal solution for production in batch size 1 and future requirements. The WALLTEQ M-300 insuFill can be used as a pure insulating station for wall, roof and floor elements. The blow-in plate can be rotated 90° and ensures an optimal and uniform density distribution of the insulation material per compartment. This significantly reduces the amount of dust that employees are subjected to. Verifiable fill quantities and seamless documentation ensure consistently high quality. WALLTEQ M-380 insuFill multifunction bridge: Fully automatic insulation, attachment, and processing with just one machine. There are a number of processing and attachment options available. fastenerSwitch quick-change system In addition to the devices available on the multifunction bridge, a separate station offers four additional fastening units. The multifunction bridge uses the data record to change the required attachment device fully automatically depending on the material - As the units no longer have to be changed manually, idle times and setup times are minimized. www.weinmann-partner.de No. 4 • October 2021 33
