Ligna.in Sharpening

Ligna.in Sharpening expertise at digital Ligna.IN Due to the Corona pandemic, the wood trade fair Ligna 2021 will be held digitally and will be called Ligna.IN (Innovation Network). Vollmer, the sharpening specialist, will also be taking part in the digital event from September 27 to 29. Visitors from the wood industry will gain insights into the machine manufacturer‘s portfolio, which includes grinding machines for circular saw blades and grinding and eroding machines for rotary tools. In addition, Vollmer will be providing information on its sustainability strategy as well as its services relating to maintenance, training and digital solutions of the V@dison initiative. Vollmer is using the digital event to show its sharpening machines and services for processing rotary tools as well as circular and band saws to the international trade audience. Three Vollmer contact persons will be available online during the trade fair to exchange information with visitors in several languages via chat or e-mail. Sharpening circular saws for wood cutting In the woodworking industry, the carbidetipped circular saw is ubiquitous when cutting wood and composites, whether in the sawmill, the furniture maker or the construction industry. Vollmer grinding machines such as the CHX 840, CHC 840 or CHD 270 ensure the necessary sharpness of the circular saw teeth on chip and clearance surfaces. The trio will be presented at Ligna.IN with their automation, including the ND Service Center for the CHD 270. Its loading carriages can hold up to 50 circular saw blades, allowing up to 650 saw blades to be processed unmanned and around the clock. Grinding and eroding machines for rotary tools Cutting tools made of PCD or carbide are indispensable for the machining of wood and composite materials. To machine these carbide tools, Vollmer has developed the VGrind grinding machine. It has two vertically arranged grinding spindles and thus enables precise and efficient multilevel machining. Via automations such as pallet magazine, free-arm robot or chain magazine, tool manufacturers can use the machines of the VGrind product family unmanned and around the clock. Grinding carbide tools and eroding PCDtipped (polycrystalline diamond) tools with one machine - the Vollmer VHybrid 260 can do 100 percent of each. The heart of the machine for EDM is the Vpulse EDM, with which efficiency and surface quality can be optimized. For grinding, the VHybrid 260 features the proven machine concept of the VGrind series. At Ligna.IN, Vollmer will also present the QXD 250 disc eroding machine, which is suitable for sharpening PCD tools with diameters of up to 320 millimeters and weights of up to 25 kilograms. www.vollmer-group.com Contactless laboratory cut measurement by X-ray and laser technology The GreCon laboratory cut measurement BOARDCONTROL offers a quick and precise measurement of the thickness and the mass per unit area of laboratory cuts. BOARDCONTROL ensures a high product quality with simultaneous optimal use of material and energy. The use of the BOARDCONTROL focuses on the quick, precise and reproducible control of the most important panel parameters. The determined values are used as necessary proof of the panel quality and for product optimisation at the same time. If a too heavy panel is still acceptable for the end customer, this means too much material and production costs for the manufacturer, whereas a panel which is too light often shows only poor quality features. Material distribution, thickness and density of the wood-based panels are checked by BOARDCONTROL. Thanks to accurate graphic and numerical displays, the operator is able to intervene specifically into the production process to achieve a uniform panel quality with a simultaneous optimal use of material and energy. Ligna.in HOMAG at the LIGNA.Innovation Network 2021 This digital event, organized jointly by Deutsche Messe and the VDMA Woodworking Machinery Association, will focus on the key themes of LIGNA. HOMAG will also be present from September 27 to 29 and will be pushing the topics of “transformation in woodworking by means of digitalization and networking” and “the prefabrication processes in timber construction”, among others. “For HOMAG, LIGNA is the leading trade fair in our industry and we see the digital event as an important building block for staying in touch with customers and bridging the time until LIGNA ‘23. The insights gained from this event are also an important basis for the format design of LIGNA ‘23 in order to develop it further for the future,” says Dr. Markus Vöge, CSO of the HOMAG Group. As usual, HOMAG will be presenting machines, software and technical innovations at LIGNA.Innovation Network as part of the new trade show concept - consisting of a Virtual Expo, Conference and Networking. The holistic solution concepts will show both small craft businesses and large industrial companies how they can meet the demands of today and innovate for the trends of the future. The formats include video tutorials, live streaming and direct networking where visitors can get in touch directly with HOMAG experts on site. In this way, HOMAG would like to bring visitors not only the innovations and new products, but also the missing trade fair feeling home as best as possible. Dr. Markus Vöge, CSO HOMAG Group www.homag.com exploreSiempelkamp meets LIGNA.Innovation Network From September 27 exploreSiempelkamp will be complemented by the participation in the digital event LIGNA.Innovation Network, organized by Deutsche Messe AG and the VDMA Woodworking Machinery Association. This virtual event attracts international LIGNA visitors for three days, thus creating the perfect synergy for exploreSiempelkamp. From this point on, those content levels will be activated which deal specifically with the wood-based panel industry and Siempelkamp‘s technologies. “The extremely positive response to our campaign and the numerous registrations prove that exploreSiempelkamp arouses curiosity. With the first content level we are now setting the first milestones and are looking forward to gradually introducing all registered ‘explorers’ to the megatrends of our industry as well as Siempelkamp’s core competencies,” says Dr. Martin Stark, CEO of the Siempelkamp Group. Siempelkamp will continue its content platform beyond the LIGNA event in the future. “After the LIGNA.Innovation Network exploreSiempelkamp will remain as an exclusive communication channel and will be continuously expanded to anchor our strengths in the market. Sustainability, our contribution to the careful use of natural resources - digitalization, which increases cost-efficiency and optimizes product quality - complete plant competence, the perfection in the interaction of all of Siempelkamp’s individual services in every part of our value chain,” explains Samiron Mondal, Managing Director of Siempelkamp Maschinenund Anlagenbau GmbH. www.siempelkamp.com No. 3 • August 2021 23
