FAIRS Interiors as a

FAIRS Interiors as a growth market for interzum 2021 Investments in floors, walls and ceilings increase The leading global trade fair interzum in Cologne has always had two important pillars: Supplier products for the furniture industry on the one hand and for the interior industry on the other. Modern flooring falls among the latter - a product segment which hardly leaves anything to be desired both in terms of function and design. The interzum team is going to place an even stronger focus on the manufacturers of flooring at the coming 2021 event. An attractive pavilion will offer German and international companies from this segment a high-quality presentation platform. “Regarding the visitors, we are targetedly addressing floor layers, craftsmen, building owners and architects,” the interzum Director, Maik Fischer, stressed, adding “because almost a third of our trade fair visitors belong to these professions. Furthermore, our exhibitors are confirming the rapidly growing appeal of precisely this clientele.” Recently around 75,000 trade visitors were registered at interzum. Around 13 % of whom belonged to the target group “Interiors/shopfitting”, 9 % were from the carpenter/joiner trade and 7 % were interior design and decoration companies. The leading Cologne-based trade fair for suppliers is thus one of the most coveted hotspots for floor laying companies and the flooring specialised trade. Hence, the “World’s Leading Event” interzum is exactly the right stage for modern flooring systems, because the flooring market also has a global alignment. The customers are increasingly demanding higher-quality lineups that cut a “clean figure” for many years after the initial installation or renovation - both in the commercial section as well as for implementation by property owners and private customers. The technical progress enables a continuous supply of new, surprising innovations, which range from laying and fastener technologies, through to new fields of application. In addition to outstanding product characteristics, the buying decisions are being more and more frequently and more clearly influenced by “soft” criteria such as sustainability, socially responsible production, recycling capability as well as low transport and energy costs. The preparations for 2021 with regards to flooring are currently running at full speed. Grouped under the product segment “Materials & Nature”, the emphasis of which lies on resourcesaving, sustainability and innovative surface design, interzum is awaiting exciting corporate presentations for parquet, solid wood and cork flooring, elastic flooring as well as for LVT or designer flooring and laminate. www.koelnmesse.de Postponement of DOMOTEX USA 2021 Hannover Fairs USA (HFUSA), the organizer of DOMOTEX USA, announced that after careful and thoughtful consideration, the trade show scheduled for March 1-3, 2021, will be postponed. The decision to postpone the 2021 edition of the show was based upon several factors, including the results of extensive market research as well as ongoing global conditions. In the months following the 2020 event, an outside research firm conducted an in-depth market study including a survey and interviews with floor covering retailers, distributors and other flooring professionals (inclusive of previous DOMOTEX USA participants) intended to help the organization further understand the industry’s needs, with the ultimate goal of adding more value to the show experience. The new date and location for the next DOMOTEX USA will be shared when available. www.domotexusa.com Next edition of IFMAC not until October 2021 The next edition of IFMAC, one of the most important trade fairs for woodworking machinery in Southeast Asia, will be held in Jakarta from October 12 to 15, 2021. IFMAC, which was planned for this year in September, had initially been postponed to October 2020. However, due to the effects of the Covid 19 pandemic, this date cannot be realized. For this reason, the Indonesian trade fair company Wakeni (PT. Wahana Kemalaniaga Makmur) as organizer and Deutsche Messe AG from Hanover as IFMAC partner are now concentrating all their efforts on next year’s event. The extended preparation period until October 2021 enables Wakeni to offer each exhibiting company optimal logistical and marketing support. Trade visitors and buyers can look forward to a well-organized, comprehensive trading and presentation platform to make direct contact with potential business partners again. www.messe.de 32 No. 3 • August 2020

FAIRS New dates and formats for Feria Hábitat Valencia The fair is moving the edition slated for this September to 2021 in response to the industry’s request for a break from the fair’s usual format on account of the Covid-19 crisis. At the express request of a number of exhibitors, Feria Valencia will be hosting a new event, ÁGORA ENCUENTROS HÁBITAT VLC, this coming November. Set to be an exceptional, unique event, it will be on a scale and at prices that reflect the current circumstances and will focus on brand’s newest products. Hábitat is re-arranging its schedule. The 56th edition of the leading event for the ‘made in Spain’ interiors industry will not be taking place this coming September as planned but will instead be staged as a new event in November: a commercial platform styled ÁGORA ENCUENTROS HÁBITAT VLC that will offer a specific format for participating. Whilst more limited in size than the usual fair, it will fill the gap this year until Feria Hábitat Valencia returns in September 2021 as a fully-fledged fair. www.feriahabitatvalencia.com BIFA WOOD Vietnam postponed to March 2021 BIFA WOOD Vietnam was scheduled to be held from 27th to 30th October 2020. However, due to the uncertainty surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, the exhibition has been postponed to 11th to 13th March 2021. The postponement seeks to protect the safety and well-being of all exhibitors, sponsors, delegates, trade attendees and staff, as well as to allow key industry players more time to participate. BIFA WOOD Vietnam 2018 was a resounding success, with 183 exhibitors and 740 booths spread across a massive hall of 14,500 square metres. The exhibition was attended by about 4,200 visitors seeking the latest technologies and products in the furniture manufacturing and woodworking sectors. www.bifawoodvietnam.com The next Xylexpo event will be in 2022 “The Board of Cepra-Centro promozionale Acimall had to take note that it is impossible to organize Xylexpo in 2020, setting the next date for exhibitors and visitors in 2022”. Cepra communicated the non-existence of objective conditions to organize the 2020 edition of Xylexpo, Biennial world exhibition for woodworking technology and furniture supplies, with an official letter to all exhibitors signed by President Lorenzo Primultini on July 6, 2020. “Postponing the exhibition to November 2020 - Primultini’s letter states - seemed the best possible solution, but the efforts of our organization in recent months and the constant monitoring of all the conditions required to offer a successful exhibition have clearly shown that the situation in November will not be favorable, yet. With its global scope and more than one out of three exhibitors and visitors coming from abroad, Xylexpo has an international soul and vocation that would be seriously jeopardized by sanitary and economic conditions that are still unsolved in many world regions”. So, the date with Xylexpo is postponed to 2022: the exhibition team is already working to design a Xylexpo event that takes into account new ideas and recent changes to create a new and more modern “digital oriented” showcase, deploying a strategy that will be supported with proposals and initiatives in the coming months. www.xylexpo.com No. 3 • August 2020 33
