TOOLS The 2.0 generation

TOOLS The 2.0 generation of panel sizing circular saw blades - now up to 730 mm! Under the concept of ”Cutting 2.0“, numerous products have been subsumed at AKE since 2015 which - different to all other conventional types of tools - focus on a new and innovative mode of chipping. All these tools are characterized by an extremely efficient tool life and cutting quality. From 2016 this cutting principle has specifically been expanded in the field of panel sizing with the type 2.0024 saw blades. There has been an initial complete range of panel sizing circular saw blades since 2017. In 2019 AKE is now providing an even more extensive product range for the customers which includes - for the first time - diameters of up to 730 mm, optimized for sizing cuts. Stefan Weckenmann, longtime application engineer at AKE and co-designer of the new panel sizing circular saw blade 2.0, presents the advantages of the large sizing cut saw blades: What characterizes the new 2.0 types? Compared to conventional saw blades the panel sizing circular saw blades of the 2.0 generation are equipped with optimized chip spaces and the patented ChipBelt ® ‐ an area which is set off against the saw body and ensures the targeted removal of the arising chips. Which are the major advantages? Due to the targeted removal of chips from the cutting edge the tool-wearing multiple chipping can be reduced considerably and this clearly increases the service life of the AKE circular saw blade. The direct comparison with conventional circular saw blades shows that an up 70 % longer tool life is achieved. The total costs are up to 35 % lower. Based on a similar principle as is applied with the low-noise SuperSilent saw blades, the noise while sawing is up to 50 % lower. Which versions and sizes are you currently offering? AKE is offering an extensive complete range to the user. Depending on the case of application both finish cut and thin-kerf variants can be purchased in popular sizes. In the field of sizing cuts especially large cutting heights are realized by means of AKE saw blade diameters of up to 730 mm. This is how you achieve a particularly high output in industrial parquet processing. For applications where a finish-cut quality is required a range of tools with diameters of 280 mm up to 520 mm is available. And what will the future bring? The AKE panel sizing programme is already tapio-ready. In future the items can thus be imported and processed in the ecosystem of Tapio via barcode. The focus of the trade is to an increasing extent on panel processing. Within this field of application AKE will therefore carry on providing innovative products with the corresponding advantages. www.ake.de 26 No. 1 • February 2020

TOOLS DP panel sizing saw blades with topcoat, extra long edge lives Diamond-tipped (DP) panel sizing saw blades from the LEUCO product portfolio are well-known in the industry and are popular because of the long edge lives on the pressure beam machine. The LEUCO research and development department is further developing these saw blades with a view toward the future. The laser ornaments on the new diamond-tipped panel sizing circular saw blade family are arranged in a special vibrationdamping sequence and additionally come with damping material. The better the blade‘s vibrations are dampened, the quieter the blade cuts. Users are guaranteed to get better cutting performance and quality with much less noise throughout the entire service life of the saw blade. Even longer edge lives due to “topcoat” coating The diamond-tipped cutting edges are treated with the special LEUCO ”topcoat” coating. The coating on the tooth flanks helps to keep dirt from sticking to the blades, thus extending the edge lives of the diamond tips by up to 50 %. When trimming wood materials, the running meter performance reaches a completely new level when it comes to edge life. LEUCO ranks worldwide as a pioneer and leading supplier of diamond-tipped panel sizing saw blades with optional coating treatment. The blades come in three different tooth geometries G6: For finish cuts on unfinished and coated composite wood boards individually or in packages up to 80 mm. G3: For finish cuts in fibrous composite wood boards such as wood core plywood, veneer plywood and lightweight panels. HR-TR: For the finish cut on HPL and solid core materials. The new DP-tipped product line with the innovative laser ornaments and damping filling material is now available from stock in the most frequently used dimensions. All dimensions with tooth combinations “G6” and “G3” are optionally available with the coa-ting LEUCO is now offering all diamond-tipped panel sizing saw blades with an optional “LEUCO topcoat” on the tooth sides. Customers thus achieve edge lives for all applications never before seen in the industry. “topcoat” with separate identification numbers. The tooth combination “HR-TR” (hollow backtrapezoidal) is supplied with coating “topcoat” only. www.leuco.com Clamping nuts ESB and ESD ‐ an exiting DUO Who doesn’t know this situation, it is important to attach a great tool; without expensive special tools or a very strong man hardly conceivable. The following scenario is likely to be familiar to every manufacturing employee: With a long lever, a strong worker collares to close the nuts, sweaty, back-injurious and especially expensive work later, the first of four nuts is closed. For this problem, the company ENEMAC from Germany has found a cost effective mechanical solution. The power clamping nuts ESB and ESD. The clamping nuts operate with a hidden planetary gear in an outer casing that can be driven easily and without much effort by a small nut on the top of the casing. Thereby, the internal thread will be slightly retracted so that the counter-piece is clamped. The principle is simple, the effect is very large, because by this concept, a force of 6 - 20 t can easily be manually achieved. Simply screw the nut onto the existing bolt, then turn the small nut on the top with a standard torque wrench, in individual cases with a normal socket wrench up to the specified torque and the will securely and especially fast strain your work piece or tool. The Type ESB is intended for consistently large work pieces or tools, since the screw is limited by the blind hole. When changing sizes, decision should be made to ESD series with through hole threads, as this has an unlimited stroke. Both types can be used almost everywhere, e.g. for tensioning of belt conveyors, tools in presses and punches, work pieces, during welding, etc. At the request of many special variants, such as high temperature designs for the foundry industry, or lubrication with food grade grease for food and laboratory technology are feasible here. The power clamping nuts are used at any time, whether as original equipment, or as a retrofit item. www.enemac.de No. 1 • February 2020 27
