COMPANIES Three First

COMPANIES Three First Boards in Four Days The production of the first board is a milestone for all partners involved in any new wood-based panel plant. Within just four days in mid-June, three new DIEFFENBACHER lines produced first boards, giving plant operators and DIEFFENBACHER plenty of reasons to celebrate. Production of the first board at Wanhua Ecoboard in Tongling, Anhui, China. The Chinese Wanhua Group and its subsidiary Wanhua Ecoboard were doubly pleased. On June 10, the first board rolled off the production line at their Jingzhou site in Hubei Province, while just three days later board production began in Tongling, Anhui. Wanhua produces particleboard made from rice straw on both lines. Wanhua has relied on DIEFFENBACHER expertise in alternative raw materials since 2015. The plants which began operations in June were orders number four and five between the two companies. Three more lines, which will produce particleboard but also MDF and Fine Surface OSB from straw content, are planned. The commissioning of the two Wanhua plants was special for DIEFFENBACHER. It marked the debut of the CPS+ system in China, reinforcing it as the gold standard for efficient continuous press systems and demonstrating its flexibility and universal applicability. Another first board celebration took place on June 12 near Quito, Ecuador. Here, a new DIEFFENBACHER particleboard plant started production for Novopan del Ecuador. DIEFFENBACHER has a long-standing partnership with Novopan. The Eppingen-based machine and plant manufacturer began servicing Novopan’s first Quito plant in 2008, when Metso sold its wood-based panel business to DIEFFENBACHER. www.dieffenbacher.de ContiRoll ® on Top in ”Down Under” Borg Manufacturing Pty Ltd, Australia‘s leading producer of melamine-coated boards, has ordered a new MDF forming and press line for its Oberon site. With this order, the company repeatedly relies on Siempelkamp support. First board at AGT with Mehmet Semih Söylemez, AGT Board Member and Sevdil Yildirim, General Manager of AGT (center, both in front). Borg Manufacturing Pty Ltd. replaces an old multi-opening line with an MDF forming and press line including ContiRoll ® in 8’ x 18.8 m format with lightboard package. The order volume also includes a Siempelkamp Compactor, which provides effective protection for the steel belts in the press and provides plant operators with significant capacity and quality improvements, especially for the production of thin MDF boards. Also included is the connection to the existing high-bay warehouse, which retains the existing fiber preparation of the old plant. The production spectrum will include boards in a thickness range from 1 to 25 mm, the use of the lightboard Package also enables the production of particularly lightweight fibreboards. Borg can thus rely on a diversified product range with a wide range of thicknesses and densities. AGT Produces First Board on Siempelkamp ContiRoll ® No.II ”Hayırlı olsun” means as much as ”Good luck”: Congratulations to the Turkish wood-based panel producer AGT, whose second MDF plant made by Siempelkamp reached the important milestone ”First Board” on September 19, 2019. The AGT owner family, the management and the entire workforce had come together to celebrate the First Board. A Siempelkamp delegation together with Ulrich Kaiser, Head of Sales Siempelkamp, travelled from Germany to experience this important project success together with the Turkish customer and the Siempelkamp startup experts-five years after the first board from the first MDF plant that AGT had ordered from Siempelkamp. The scope of supply contains a Generation 9, 7 ft x 55.3 m, ContiRoll ® press, featuring the low density panel package, the forming and press line, and the glue kitchen with the innovative Ecoresinator resin blending and application system for MDF. Also included: the Eco-Sifter, a cooling and stacking line as well as a masterboard sanding and cut-to-size line with the associated intralogistics for downstream board finishing. The order volume also includes a fiber dryer and an energy system from Siempelkamp subsidiary Büttner. The connection with the first MDF line made by Siempelkamp opens up numerous advantages and focuses above all on resource efficiency. The plant is designed for a daily output of more than 1,000 m 3 ; the boards are produced especially for export. Ordered at the beginning of 2018, this project underlines AGT’s commitment to visionary entrepreneurship with which Mehmet Söylemez leads the family business into the future. On the occasion of the jointly celebrated First Board, the solidarity between the two companies was once again demonstrated - because Siempelkamp also lives the values of a family business, combined with the permanent drive to take the decisive step ahead in the market. www.siempelkamp.com 14 No. 4 • November 2019

Decors Digital Printing Everywhere Decors and Textures with UV and Water-based Inks, on Roll-Material and on Boards At this year‘s INPRINT 2019, the international trade fair for printing technology for use in industrial production, industry experts gathered in Hall A6 of the Messe München exhibition center from November 12 to 14. Hymmen demonstrated its extensive digital expertise on a wide variety of substrates in both digital decoration and structural printing with UV inks. Completely new to the portfolio is the addition of the SATURN system for decorative paper printing with water-based inks. With more than 40 single-pass digital printing systems on the market for more than ten years, Hymmen is regarded as an established technology partner for digital printing in the industrial environment. On boards and on roll-material, printing is possible on widths of up to 2,100 mm. Applications range from floors to doors, furniture and edging to outdoor applications. In addition to decorative printing, digital lacquer embossing (DLE), which is patented by Hymmen, enables digital structural printing - be it to synchronize look and feel or to create entirely new surfaces that only appear through the texture on unicolored surfaces. This earned Hymmen the Interzum Award at the Interzum 2019 furniture fair. Hymmen offers the modular JUPITER digital printing lines range for these applications with UVcurable inks. Especially for the application of digital printing on decorative paper with water-based inks, Hymmen recently presented its new development in cooperation with RICOH at Ligna 2019: the SATURN digital printing line. SATURN fundamentally changes the dynamics of the value chain in decorative printing: it is a ready-to-use system for decentralized digital printing on decorative paper - with full flexibility, just in time with reduced storage costs, and without transport costs directly at the manufacturers’ production sites. www.hymmen.com The pressure bar of the SATURN digital printing line. Big News from Schattdecor Investment in Additional Capacity and Expertise The surface specialist has announced the successful acceptance of its Palis ”2250” digital printing machine, the prototype implemented jointly with Palis and Rotodecor. In 2013, the global market leader in decor printing laid the foundation and defined the technical parameters for industrial digital printing ”Made by Schattdecor.” Schattdecor is currently the only company in the industry to produce on an industrial scale at a width of 2.25 meters. The company has invested in an additional digital printing machine for its headquarters in Thansau in order to expand its digital printing capacity. Planning for the second system has already begun, and it is scheduled to go into production as soon as possible. In this process, Schattdecor will once again collaborate with its long-term partners Padaluma Ink-Jet-Solutions GmbH and Rotodecor GmbH, now united under the umbrella of Hummingbird Converting Solutions GmbH. According to Roland Heeger: ”Digital printing has outgrown its prototype status, as proven not only by the successful, final technical acceptance of this machine, but also by the international response from our customers to countless successfully implemented projects. Digital printing perfectly complements rotogravure printing, supports a profitable product life cycle in a customerand demand-driven manner, and at the same time opens up new opportunities for innovative projects and designs. Making it another tool in our ‘One Source. Unlimited Solutions.’ toolbox.” As part of this increase in capacity, Schattdecor is also continuing to expand its technological expertise. This now includes a complete package consisting of color management, digital data handling, software for processing digital print jobs, and automated adaptation of print data to customer-specific print jobs. Current key figures, such as a speed of up to 162 meters per minute at a width of 2.25 meters, will continue to be applicable in the future. www.schattdecor.de No. 4 • November 2019 15
