Energy/Energy efficiency whereby the actual load profile of the pumps is calculated by way of specially developed measuring techniques. This means that the size of the pump can be determined exactly based on requirements and can uncover additional savings potentials. ‘Machine Health’: A glimpse into the near future Making processes more efficient involves looking at the machine’s health and reducing downtime. This is where one of the greatest promises of digital transformation comes in: generating smart data from big data through analysis and pattern recognition. When it comes to maintenance, one very successful way of doing this is by recording the relevant data (temperatures, pressures, volume flow rates) over a long period of time and analysing them (trends, discrepancies). The fact that sensors are becoming increasingly efficient while dropping significantly in price supports this. Data mining then attempts to identify hidden patterns, trends and relationships in large volumes of data using sophisticated statistical and mathematical methods or algorithms. Fig. 4: This sensor provides the data for the ‘Machine Health’ solution, whereby the machine health is calculated and a diagnostic analysis is compiled. The company's ‘Machine Health’ concept is based on one of the world’s largest databases of typical machine noise, or vibration profiles, which enables extremely precise diagnostics. Moreover, machine data is translated into recommendations for action – thanks to real-time messages and algorithms that suggest suitable repairs and maintenance measures. The result is compelling: in practice the maintenance and repair costs are lower, and the operator can expect longer uptime thanks to far fewer outages.
