components 2025 release: Flexible solutions for the shopfloor The parameters for data transfer are updated during 3D assembly With updates to the TDM Global Line and TDM ClassiX software solutions and the new TDM Machine Web Client, TDM Systems offers powerful and userfriendly solutions that make tool management and supervision on the shopfloor more efficient and easier. The software solutions have additional functions and an improved display in the current version. The work of machine operators is demanding and takes place under harsh conditions. Inspired by these challenges and feedback from existing users, TDM Systems is now taking a new approach: with the Machine Web Client, customers can now use a browser-based solution that is avail-able with maximum flexibility on any end device. Extensive functions can be used flexibly The Machine Web Client is a completely browser-based application that enables machine operators to monitor the tool flow through the shopfloor independently of desktop ap- plications. The system communicates with the application server and is compatible with all TDM desktop applications – whether Global Line or ClassiX. It displays production orders, both from the TDM presetting area and from the shopfloor applications shopcontrol and Shopfloor Manager. In addition, the Machine Web Client shows the magazine contents and a tabular tool overview at a glance, and offers the option to call up detailed tool information. Users can perform various actions for tools, and view job and picklist details. Responding to customer wishes “With the TDM Machine Web Client we are responding to a suggestion from our customers and offering machine operators a lean solution that supports them in their daily work”, explains Matthias Gröger, head of product TDM at TDM Systems, adding: “We take the wishes of our users very seriously, which is why this web client is just the first in a whole series of browser-based solutions that will come in the future." 48 no. 2, May 2025

components There is a new system parameter in the TDM tool crib module that can be used to change the usage type during disassembly Improved software solutions The TDM software solutions Global Line and ClassiX, which are both compatible with the TDM Machine Web Client, have also been revised and come with new functions. The Shopfloor Manager from TDM Global Line now also supports additional items, fixtures and gauge and calibration equipment and has, among other things, an improved display of the stock location status in all relevant tables and widgets. In addition to other functions, ClassiX now also offers an overview of the stock location during storage and retrieval in TDMstoreasy and also takes into account remaining life of a tool and quantities when balancing in TDMshopcontrol, and also displays these. further information: www.tdmsystems.com 100 % electric! With the KONTEC KSX-E, SCHUNK is launching the first 100 % electrically driven 5-axis vise with infinitely programmable clamping stroke – another future-ready component for the digitalized and energy - efficient production. Digital technologies create more energy-saving, efficient and flexible manufacturing processes. They are key components for a “healthy factory”, a production facility that is both healthy and economically successful. With this goal in mind SCHUNK is also making its clamping devices increasingly parameterizable and networkable. The advantages are particular evident in the machining of small and medium batch sizes and in transparent process monitoring. For this purpose SCHUNK has added an electrically driven version with a freely programmable clamping stroke to its proven KSX series of 5-axis vises – the KONTEC KSX-E. A new member in the KSX family: the electrically driven 5-axis clamping system KSX-E with continuously programmable clamping stroke Digitalized process monitoring The new KONTEC KSX-E with 24 volt DC is controlled via spring contacts at the bottom or a side-mounted wired connector. All programmable parameters such as clamping force, clamping stroke or jaw position can be controlled at the same time and can be transferred and evaluated via the integrated IO-link interface to the machine control unit. An IO-link is a fieldbus-independent point-to-point connection, in which the clamping device can be integrated into the corresponding fieldbus system via an IO-link master. In the future it should be possible to transfer and set the data via wireless communication or cable to an app. Optimal 5-sided accessibility A large clamping range of up to 420 mm and the pre-positioning of the jaws make the KONTEC KSX-E particularly flexible for automated machine tending with a high part variation. Thanks to its geometry with very high jaws, the vise provides optimal accessibility for 5-sided complete machining on 5- axis machines. The upper-lying spindle makes sure that the clamping force is applied directly below the workpiece and thus prevents the jaws from lifting up. Moreover the continuously programmable clamping force of up to 40 kN per jaw ensures that the workpiece can also be clamped processreliably and vibration-safe even with minimal clamping surfaces. The vise also works reliably under the influence of chips, dirt or coolant. Its complete sealing and encapsulation, electronics and actuators are also well protected. The comprehensive range of SCHUNK system and top jaws rounds off the complete package of KONTEC KSX-E. Suitable jaws are easy to find via the digital chuck jaw quickfinder. SCHUNK will offer the KONTEC KSX-E in size 125 from the first quarter of 2025 on. further information: www.schunk.com no. 2, May 2025 49
