components System solutions from HSD 50 years of innovation, passion and success – ever since the first show in Paris half a century ago, EMO has been considered “the place to be” in international metalworking – HSD cannot miss this. The spindle specialist will showcase a representative selection from its portfolio at 2025 EMO, highlighting its capacity as a competent system provider for electric spindles, 2-axis heads, swivel tables and drill heads. Expo visitors can explore various technologies that offer concrete solutions for their everyday production and meet daily operational requirements. Expert technical staff and sales representatives will be on hand to provide users with advice and support. Robust, precise and thermally stable – customers and partners can put the Italian manufacturer’s heads, spindles and tables through the paces and receive individual and detailed advice from competent staff, including demonstrations of the manufacturer’s innovative products, for example the enhanced ES1000 GO series: the new spindles are identical in construction to the well-known ES1000 series, but they are standardized in regard to feature options – and thus offer an even better price-performance ratio. Showcases also include the latest ES10 line and ES6000 electric spindles, which HSD has developed with the specific requirements of customers in mind. Both these cutting-edge series are able to adapt to the diverse needs of users and to the ever-increasing pace of the market. The ES10 high-tech spindle stands out for its smart options for challenging mil ling processes. The hor izontal ES6000 has been specially tailored to the automotive industry, its design and sensor technology achieving even better performance and reliability. Also on display, the compact, precise and powerful ES510 electric spindle has versatile applications, including demanding machining tasks. Visitors are especially invited to inspect the compact, fast and precise HST610 2-axis milling head for gigacasting applications. Focusing on future digital trends and Industry 4.0, HSD presents a device for connecting its electric spindles to the myHSD IoT platform via a series of sensors. This in-house development contributes to innovative manufacturing processes and makes them more efficient and effective. The device increases productivity and quality by detecting errors at an early stage and minimizing downtime. The software is specifically designed to reduce maintenance costs and ana - lyze data in real-time to improve processes and optimize maintenance through timely notifications and problem-solving procedures. Born in the age of CIM (Computer Integrated Manucfacturing), the goal was to become the source for CIM. Today CIMSOURCE facilitates tooling 360 °, comprising every aspect from cutting tool data generation and tool data distribution to deployment for the E-commerceand the CAM-channel. Tooling 360 ° is rooted in the web-based search engine and tool data repository of ToolsUnited. More than 5.000 users access ToolsUnited daily to search among 1,2 Mio SKUs, download 3D data for CAM, nc-verification or tool management and are guided to local distributors for instant sourcing. ToolLink simplifies tool data sourcing for manufacturing companies with requirements that go beyond what ToolUnited may provide, e.g. for customized tools. How does ToolLink help? It puts the data clean up and enrichment process into the hands of the tool suppliers. The SalesSupportServer (3S) is key for the digital transformation of tool suppliers. As the single source of truth, tool items are managed in the 3S database and be prepared in a bite-sized format for customers. 3S may be complemented with a Web UI, making it the myToolsUnited for any supplier or as a source for CAM data for their website. components Faster drilling, more precise control With DrillOptimizer the motion control specialist Aerotech is expanding its Automation1-iSMC control solution with a powerful feature for highly dynamic laser drilling with galvo scanners. The program, which has been specially developed for drilling large quantities of vias, noticeably reduces cycle times when drilling several million holes, while at the same time ensuring consistently high processing quality. DrillOptimizer is part of the AeroScriptPlus library and is available both as a user-friendly interface in Automation1 Studio and as a .NET DLL, which enables seamless integration into existing machine HMIs. “The optimization of point-to-point movements for complex drilling patterns has long been a bottleneck. DrillOptimizer automates these steps, reduces process time and ensures maximum precision” explains Bryan Germann, product manager at Aerotech. DrillOptimizer scanner positioning Intelligent motion logic for demanding drilling applications DrillOptimizer is part of the AeroScriptPlus functionality and uses a two-stage optimization approach that takes into account both path planning and movement parameters: ▶ optimization of motion sequences: DrillOptimizer calculates the shortest path through the entire drilling pattern – within a single field of view (FOV) or in combination with a servo table system for an infinite field of view (IFOV); this saves travel time and increases the overall throughput ▶ optimization of steps and settling: individually suitable control parameters are determined for each specific step distance – without the galvo scanner leaving the predefined settling window; as soon as the scanner is in the so-called settling window, the laser can be triggered without delay – this eliminates unnecessary downtimes between drillings Technical advantages at a glance: ▶ shorter cycle times thanks to intelligent path and movement optimization ▶ maximum utilization of galvo hardware performance with consistent precision ▶ no delay in laser triggering thanks to dynamic parameter adjustment ▶ support for large quantities with minimal setup effort ▶ user-friendly integration via Automation1 Studio or .NET DLL ▶ compatibility with the AGV-HPO and AGV-XPO galvo heads from Aerotech The DrillOptimizer from Aerotech optimizes motion sequences and control parameters during laser drilling – for maximum precision, the shortest cycle times and simple integration into existing machine control systems Partner for demanding laser processes DrillOptimizer is aimed at equipment manufacturers who realize laser drilling processes with maximum efficiency and precision – for example in PCB production, micro material processing or semiconductor technology. further information: www.aerotech.com no. 3, September 2025 57
